Seminar Question

Is modularization of Architecture design possible without an organization to set standards adopted by the community as a whole?

  1. No, I do not believe it is. Without a set of widely accepted standards, it is likely that modules will become inadvertently larger or smaller than their adjoining ones because they were not required to adhere to strict guidelines. By forcing standards upon the pre-fabricated architecture industry, the industry will be allowed to flourish under a common set of rules and restrictions thereby protecting the consumer from any human error of construction in a factory.

During normal on-site fabrication, all parts are built interlocking and do not have the chance of NOT lining up correctly from room to room, and should a problem arise, it can easily be rectified as the ENTIRE section has not yet been built. Therefore, because a module is entirely pre-built and has little room for modification to allow seams and joints to line up, it must follow the structural plans within a very small tolerance.
